Engine 65 Construction Begins

| Construction has started on the new KME Engine which will replace the existing 1989 Hahn Engine. Sales representatives recently visited the KME plant and were kind enough to take some pictures of the cab frame work. |

Shed Fire Extinguished

| One line was used to extinguish a shed on fire in the rear yard of a house on Valley View Circle in the Winding River Development. The fire was dispatched at 18:55 and was quickly knocked down and the incident was scaled back to Engine 66 and Engine 65 to overhaul and await the CC FM's office. There were no injuries reported however the shed and its contents were a loss. |

Utility Truck Placed Into Service

| Upon completion of lettering and striping Thursday afternoon, the Phoenix Hose, Hook, and Ladder Co., No. 1 has placed a 2008 Ford F-350 "Super Duty" pick-up truck into service as Utility 65. This unit will serve primarily as a personnel carrier but will also be used in various capacities to support the day to day operations of the fire department. This vehicle is the first to display the new colors that will be featured on both the Engine and Ladder that are presently being built to replace the existing apparatus and both should be completed later this year. |

Accident with Injuries on Starr Street

| Engine 65 responded to Starr St and Second Ave on Tuesday morning just before 11AM for an accident with injuries. Engine 66 and MICU 67 also responded and units arrived onscene to find a two vehicle collision with injuries to both drivers and a dog. Skycare was landed at an adjacent baseball field in Reeve's Park to transport one driver to a Philadelphia trauma center while a second MICU from Royersford transported the other driver to Phoenixville Hospital. Valley Veterinary Hospital Staff responded to the scene and transported the injured dog to their office for treatment. All units were clear of the scene within the hour. |

Dryer Fire Quickly Extinguished

| Ladder 65 and the rest of the Phoenixville Fire Department responded at 2:15 pm to the Happy Day Laundry at 31 Bridge Street for an appliance fire. Battalion 65 and Ladder 65 arrived onscene two minutes later with light smoke showing. The building was evacuated and the fire was quickly extinguished. Crews from the PFD secured the utilities and determined the fire was contained to clothes inside a dryer. All units from the department were clear of the scene by 2:48 pm.
